Constructed in 1858, this cylindrical stone lighthouse stands 28.5 meters tall on Nottawasaga Island in Georgian Bay. Its attached 1-1/2 story stone keeper's house complements the round limestone tower, which features a lantern and gallery. The light produced two white flashes every 10 seconds, with a geographic range of 15.2 nautical miles. Following its period of operation, the lighthouse was declared inactive in 2003. A significant portion of its outer wall collapsed in December 2004. Stabilization efforts in 2005 included placing a metal band and sealing the inner wall. Preservation efforts have continued since then, with renewed interest and granted permission for emergency repairs in 2014.
