This octagonal iron tower, painted white, stands 18 meters tall and was completed in 1804. Its light has a focal height of 17.5 meters and emits a white flash. The lighthouse is located in the Virginia section of the Chesapeake Bay, near the end of the Middle Peninsula. It is no longer operational.
Why it matters: Completed in 1804, this structure is the third-oldest surviving lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
