Narvik Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Narvik Lighthouse
This concrete post, standing 6 meters tall and painted white, features a gallery. The lantern has been removed from the structure, which is located on a headland in Ankenesstrand, opposite Narvik. Its original function was to guide vessels across the fjord to the port. The lighthouse was relocated due to the construction of Ankenes Marina. A modern skeletal tower has been added to the top of the post, which now carries radar or communications equipment.
Why it matters: Although no longer an active navigational aid, the structure's current utility supporting radar and communication equipment maintains its strategic importance for the region's infrastructure.
