About Narrow Island Lighthouse
The Narrow Island Lighthouse is a square pyramidal skeletal tower, standing 10 meters tall with a focal height of 15 meters. Its white structure emits a single white flash every 4 seconds, visible for 11.9 nautical miles. This current light was first lit in 1979, replacing a 1903 structure that had a lantern atop a two-story keeper's house. The earlier lighthouse on the site, a square wooden tower attached to a keeper's house, was destroyed by fire in 1902. The present tower was built on the northwest point of the island, marking the western approach to the Little Current Strait.
