Møn Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Møn Lighthouse
Built in 1845, Møn Lighthouse is an octagonal cylindrical brick tower painted orange, rising 13 meters from the seaward side of its 1-1/2 story keeper's house. The structure is topped by a lantern and gallery. A 3rd order Fresnel lens was installed in 1947, and the lighthouse was restored in 1999. It emits four white flashes every 30 seconds. The focal height of the light is 25 meters, providing a geographic range of 14.3 nautical miles. The lighthouse is located on Møn Klint at the eastern tip of the island of Møn.
Why it matters: This lighthouse precisely marks the eastern tip of Møn Klint, a significant headland that vessels must navigate. Its distinctive design, with the tower integrated into the keeper's house, represents a notable example of Danish lighthouse architecture from the mid-19th century.
