About Minot's Ledge Lighthouse
Construction of the Minot's Ledge Lighthouse began in 1850, with the first light lit the same year. The tower stands 27 meters tall, with its focal plane at 26 meters above sea level. This lighthouse is located offshore of Cohasset and Scituate in northern Massachusetts. It is a granite structure, built in two sections. The original lighthouse was replaced after being destroyed by a storm shortly after its initial operation. The current structure at this site has been designated a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
