McQuestin Point Lighthouse

McQuestin Point Lighthouse, a square pyramidal wood tower, was built and first lit in 1915. Painted white, the structure measures 5.5 meters in height with its light positioned at 6.5 meters above the water. It produces a white flash every 4 seconds and has a visibility range of 9.1 nautical miles. Located on the south bank of the Ottawa River, approximately 5 kilometers east of Deep River, this operational light is situated on property belonging to Chalk River Laboratories.

Why it matters: This structure marks the Ottawa River's channel near Deep River, assisting watercraft movement along this route. Its location within the Chalk River Laboratories complex is uncommon for a navigational marker.
