About Malö Hamn Lighthouse
Also known as: Malö Hamn (Skalla)
This 4-meter octagonal concrete structure, painted white, was first lit in 1917 to guide mariners at the entrance to Skallanas harbor. It stands on the mainland, east of the harbor's mouth, not on the island of Malö. The light displays two white flashes every 6 seconds and also has red and green capabilities. The structure includes a lantern at a focal height of 5 meters. It was inactive from 1991 to 2002 and has been privately maintained since its reactivation.
Why it matters: Its reactivation and continued private maintenance by the Onsala Fyrförening demonstrate its lasting community value and dedication to maritime heritage.
