Lohals Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Lohals Lighthouse
The lighthouse at Lohals, built in 1933, is a 9-meter tall cylindrical masonry tower. It features white walls with gray trim and a red lantern dome. The current structure replaced a cast iron tower erected in 1893, and the lantern from the earlier tower was reused. This light station was initially established in 1880. Its focal height is 8 meters, and it emits an occulting white, red, and green light that changes every 2 seconds. The lighthouse is situated at the foot of the south mole, marking the northwestern coast of Langeland.
Why it matters: The Lohals Lighthouse is significant for its directional light, which provides precise guidance for vessels navigating the coastal waters near the Lohals harbor and the south mole. The reuse of the 1893 lantern on the 1933 tower creates a connection to the site's historical operations.
