Liste over Norske Fyr Lighthouse

🇳🇴Utsira, NOOperational

Constructed from unpainted stone, this cylindrical tower stands 9 meters tall on Utsira island, about 18 kilometers west-southwest of Haugesund. The lighthouse was first lit in 1844 as part of a twin-light system intended to help mariners distinguish it from other lights. By 1890, however, the south tower's operational service concluded. Its lantern was removed, rendering it redundant with the introduction of more advanced flashing light technology. This structure is one of two surviving twin lighthouses in Norway.

Why it matters: This lighthouse is part of Norway's only remaining twin lighthouse station, representing an early method of navigational differentiation before flashing lights became standard.
