Lindholmen Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Lindholmen Lighthouse
Lindholmen Lighthouse was a skeletal concrete tower standing 8 meters tall, topped by a lantern at a focal height of 7.5 meters. Its black structure was mounted on tripod piles, a design that supported a white light. This light produced a single white flash, visible for 9.5 nautical miles. The lighthouse was situated near Austevoll, off the northern end of Huftarøy, marking a reef. While the site remains accessible, the lighthouse itself was removed in 2015. A simpler post light now serves the area.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was important for warning vessels, particularly ferry traffic, about a hazardous reef off Huftarøy's northern tip.
