This location guides eastbound ships entering the narrowest section of the Strait of Belle Isle. The current square, orange slatted skeletal tower stands 22 meters tall and was built in 1983, with its light at a focal height of 35 meters. Its white light emits one flash every 15 seconds, visible for 16.2 nautical miles. The original lighthouse was first lit in 1878 and was destroyed by fire in 1947, with a replacement built in 1949 before the present structure. Restoration efforts for the site have been ongoing since 2019.
