Location & Light Range
About Île du Havre aux Maisons (Cap Alright) Lighthouse
A square pyramidal wooden tower, 8 meters high, was built in 1928 at the southeastern tip of Île du Havre aux Maisons. The structure is painted white with red trim and features a lantern and gallery. It stands at the end of Chemin des Échoueries, near Route 199, within the Magdalen Islands archipelago. Although it ceased operations in 2015, a 2017 assessment found the lighthouse freshly painted and in good condition. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is the only one in the Magdalen Islands designated as a Heritage Lighthouse, recognizing its cultural and historical value. Its location was significant for marking the southeastern point of Île du Havre aux Maisons.
