About Île Brion Lighthouse
Constructed in 1904, this white octagonal tower stands 44 meters tall on the western end of Île Brion, within the Îles de la Madeleine archipelago. Its light is visible from 9 nautical miles. The focal height of the light is 40 meters. The light emits a single white flash every 3 seconds. The tower follows a standard design used for lighthouses built by Canada's Department of Marine and Fisheries in the early 20th century.
Why it matters: This lighthouse was recognized as a historic monument in 2006.
