About Lauderdale Estates Lighthouse
This octagonal wood tower stands 7 meters tall, with a focal height of 7.5 meters, and is painted white with two narrow red horizontal bands. A red lantern roof tops the structure. It is located on the east side of a canal entrance at the extreme north end of a lake. The light is white and flashes continuously. The geographic range of the light is 9.5 nautical miles. Although operational, the lighthouse is on private property.
Why it matters: This structure is significant as a faux lighthouse, a decorative element added to private property rather than a primary navigational aid.
