Langesund Range Rear Lighthouse

This concrete lighthouse is a white cylindrical tower standing 9 meters tall with a red roof. It is situated at the end of a short pier at the northern edge of Langesund harbor, providing guidance for southbound vessels. Its focal height reaches 11 meters above sea level. The light emits a red signal with an occulting characteristic, showing a red light on a 6-second cycle. Originally, the light was mounted atop a mast. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.

Why it matters: This rear range light, working with a front light 425 meters away, established a precise alignment to guide ships southbound into Langesund harbor.
