About Kvannholmen Lighthouse
Kvannholmen lighthouse is a 6-meter lantern structure situated on a platform supported by piles. Painted white with a red roof, it stands 11 meters above sea level on a small island at the southern entrance to Mistfjord. The light emits two white flashes every 8 seconds and also displays red and green sectors to guide vessels. This light is visible for 10.7 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but access to the tower itself is restricted.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for safe navigation into and out of Mistfjord, a critical passage for local fishing fleets and other maritime traffic northeast of Bodø.
