Klauvaneset Lighthouse

This square concrete tower, standing 6 meters tall and topped with a red roof, is located in Norway's Vestland region. Its light, visible at a focal height of 32 meters, emits two white flashes or a combination of white, red, and green signals in an 8-second cycle. Situated in the Byfjord, it lies directly beneath the Nordhordlandsbrua, a bridge completed in 1994. The bridge's construction altered the lighthouse's visibility from certain vantage points. Although the tower is closed to the public, the site remains accessible, offering views of the lighthouse next to the large bridge structure. The lighthouse is 1.3 kilometers from the nearest port, Flatoy.

Why it matters: Klauvaneset lighthouse continues to offer directional guidance in the Byfjord, serving local shipping and recreational craft. Its location beneath the Nordhordlandsbrua illustrates the adaptation of navigational aids to changing infrastructure.
