Location & Light Range
About Kallera Lighthouse
Also known as: Kallera (Kaldera) (Range Front)
A 5-meter lantern and gallery structure, mounted on four black, straight piles, marks the east side of Kråkerøy opposite the Fredrikstad waterfront. The lantern itself is painted white with a red roof. This light exhibits an occulting white, green, or red signal, cycling every 6 seconds, visible for 10.5 nautical miles. The focal height of the light is 10.5 meters. Although the Kallera Range it was part of has been discontinued, the lighthouse remains operational. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's directional light system provides precise warnings for the intricate shoreline of Kråkerøy, guiding vessels navigating the waters adjacent to Fredrikstad's waterfront.
