About Juniper Island Lighthouse
Built in 1826, the Juniper Island Lighthouse stands 12 meters tall with a focal height of 7.5 meters. The cylindrical tower is constructed of cast iron. Its light, which displayed a white color, is no longer operational. The lighthouse was first lit in the same year it was constructed.
Why it matters: This structure holds the distinction of being the oldest light station on Lake Champlain and the oldest surviving cast iron lighthouse in the United States.
