Established in 1903, this lighthouse is situated approximately 200 meters south of Jazīrat al Khadrā island, marking a barren reef. The square concrete structure stands 23 meters tall and features black and white horizontal bands. Its light emits a quick white flash, visible for 13.8 nautical miles. The lighthouse is mounted on a square concrete pier and is located about 8 km southwest of the Suez Canal entrance and 4 km northwest of the Newport Rock Light. The site is open to visitors, but the tower remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels of a hazardous barren reef in the approaches to the Suez Canal, functioning as a critical navigational aid in conjunction with the Newport Rock Light.
