The lighthouse was first lit in 1911, though the original skeletal tower was later moved to the Homigot Light museum. The current structure was built in 2006. The lighthouse is located on a small island off the northwestern coast of Chicheondo, near Geoje-si. The site is open to visitors, but the tower itself is closed.
