About Henry Island Lighthouse

The Henry Island Lighthouse, built in 1902, is an octagonal pyramidal wood tower standing 16 meters tall. It features a lantern and gallery and displays alternately red and white bands. The light emits a white flash every 4 seconds, visible for over 20 nautical miles. Joseph MacDonald is credited with its design. The lighthouse is located on the west side of Henry Island, overlooking St. George's Bay. The former keeper's house, a 1-1/2 story wooden structure, has been restored and is now a private residence.
