A square skeletal tower, painted gray and standing 6 meters tall, marks the entrance to Harbour Grace Harbour. The lighthouse station was established in 1850, with its original structure built that same year. Later replaced by the Point of Beach Sector Light, this lighthouse was moved to the south side of the harbor. It has been inactive since approximately 2000. While the site is open to visitors, the tower itself remains closed to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse guided vessels into Harbour Grace, a historically significant port in Newfoundland, ensuring safe passage.
