Haeseo Lighthouse is a cylindrical concrete tower standing 8 meters tall, situated off the northeastern tip of Amtaedo in South Korea's South Jeolla province. The structure features a distinctive black upper half and a yellow lower half. Its focal height is also 8 meters, and it emits a quick-flashing white light. This lighthouse is located on a reef and is accessible only by boat, with the site open to the public but the tower closed. The nearest port is Mokpo, located 14.2 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels of a reef in the waters around Amtaedo, guiding local shipping through an area with numerous islands and submerged obstacles.
