The Grunnsundholmen lighthouse is a square, wooden tower built in 1928, standing 6 meters tall. It is situated on a small island in the Furasund, northwest of Eigerøy and near Eigersund. The structure includes a lantern and gallery, with the light positioned 8 meters above sea level. Its geographic range is 6 nautical miles. The lighthouse was operational until 2015. A 1-1/2 story wood house, formerly the keeper's residence, is also on the property.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was important for safe passage through the Furasund, a waterway on the northwest side of Eigerøy, and represents a link to the region's seafaring heritage.
