About Grisetåodde Lighthouse
Grisetåodde Lighthouse, built in 1909, stands on a narrow spit of land that marks the eastern entrance to the Oddesund strait. This cylindrical cast iron tower, standing 8 meters tall, is painted with red and white horizontal bands and features a lantern and gallery. Its focal height is also 8 meters, and it emits an occulting white, red, or green light on a 5-second cycle. The structure has been repainted twice, in 2005 and again in 2018, to maintain its appearance. The lighthouse site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels entering the Oddesund strait from the east, providing critical directional information through its colored occulting light.
