About Grenå Havn Vest Lighthouse
Also known as: Grenå Havn Vest (relocated)
Built in 1933, this cylindrical cast iron lighthouse stands 7 meters tall and is painted white with two red horizontal bands. It was first lit in 1933 and originally stood on the west breakwater of Grenå harbor. The lighthouse has been moved multiple times, first to the yacht harbor on the south side and then to Rolshojvej north of the harbor area in 2012. Its operational life concluded sometime after 1965, though the exact year it was deactivated is unknown. The structure's focal height reaches 33 meters, providing a geographic range of 15.9 nautical miles.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's multiple relocations reflect the evolving infrastructure of the port of Grenaa, and its survival makes it a unique artifact of local maritime heritage.
