Constructed in 1857, Green Island Lighthouse is a stone, cylindrical tower standing 9 meters tall, with a focal height of 28 meters. Its exterior is painted white and features vertical red stripes on the lantern dome, complemented by a narrow horizontal red band around the gallery. In 1956, the original keeper's house was removed and the stone tower encased in concrete. The light emits a single white flash every 12 seconds, visible for 14.9 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, though access to the tower itself is closed. The lighthouse was granted Heritage status in 2015.

Background
