About Glacier Bay Area Lighthouse Lighthouse
This concrete lighthouse was constructed in 1925 to guide vessels entering Cross Sound. The 7.5-meter-tall square cylindrical tower, painted white, sits atop a square concrete keeper's quarters and fog signal building. A black lantern and gallery are centered on the roof. The light produces one white flash every 10 seconds. In 1974, the original lens was removed, and by 1998, a modern aerobeacon was installed. This facility is located on the north side of the entrance to Cross Sound, offering navigation from the Pacific Ocean towards Juneau and Haines.
