Glace Bay Range Front Lighthouse

🇨🇦Glace Bay, CAOperational

Also known as: #Glace Bay Range Front (relocated)

A square pyramidal wood tower with a lantern, the Glace Bay Range Front lighthouse was built in 1907. Standing 5 meters tall, it was situated near the end of Bathgate Street in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. The structure served as a navigational aid until its deactivation around 1980. It was rediscovered in 2003 within a private backyard, having been presumed lost. The lighthouse was subsequently destroyed by fire in 2018.

Why it matters: As a range front light, this structure guided vessels along local waterways. Its rediscovery in private ownership after years of being unaccounted for highlights efforts in preserving maritime heritage.
