Gapøy Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Gapøy Lighthouse
This 7-meter concrete post lighthouse is painted white and features a red lantern roof. Its focal height reaches 9.5 meters, and it emits a white, red, or green light. The light produces two occultations within an 8-second cycle. Situated at the south end of Gapøya, it lies about 7 kilometers north of the town of Kvæfjord. The lighthouse is operational, and while the site is open to visitors arriving by boat, the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's directional light is essential for safe passage through the Kvæfjord, particularly guiding vessels around the southern tip of Gapøya island.
