About Fyrskepp 21 Biskopsudden Lighthouse
Also known as: Fyrskepp 21 Biskopsudden (Trelleborgsredd)
This 24-meter steel lightship was built in 1899 and served Swedish waters for over six decades. Initially stationed at Trelleborgsredd until 1930, it later moved to Oskarsgrundet from 1932 to 1961. Following its decommissioning in 1962, the vessel underwent significant alterations in 1988, including the removal of its original light tower. It was then rebuilt as a houseboat and office, renamed Biskopsudden, and moored at its current location in Stockholm. The ship features a red hull, a white superstructure with red trim, and a modern white faux light tower topped with a red roof.
Why it matters: The lightship's service at Trelleborgsredd and Oskarsgrundet stations highlights its historical role in Swedish maritime navigation.
