The station was first established in 1894, with the current cylindrical concrete tower built in 1950. It emits a white, red, or green flash every three seconds to guide vessels. The lighthouse is located in the Fårösund passage, approximately 1.6 kilometers north northwest of the Bungeör light. Its geographic range is 8.9 nautical miles.
