About Fond du Lac County Lighthouses Lighthouse
An octagonal wood tower, 17 meters in height, was built in 1933 on an octagonal stone foundation. The structure, painted white with a black lantern roof, features a gallery and an open lantern-like top. Its focal height reaches 18 meters, casting a red light with a characteristic of one flash every 6 seconds. The lighthouse has undergone multiple restorations, with significant work completed in 1968, 1993, and again between September 2022 and spring 2023 following water damage in 2021. Historical displays were added in 2016. The lighthouse is open to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides recreational boaters entering the Fond du Lac marina on Lake Winnebago.
