Falsterborev Lighthouse

Oc White/Red/Green 8s🇸🇪SEOperational

Also known as: Falsterborev (Falsterbo Reef)

This concrete lighthouse, built in 1972, stands 30.5 meters tall and is situated in the middle of the southern Öresund entrance. Its cylindrical tower features red and black horizontal bands, four galleries, and a helipad on top. The light emits an occulting white, red, and green signal, with white flashes occurring every 8 seconds. Positioned about 12 kilometers southwest of Falsterbo, Sweden, and an equal distance east of Stevns Klint, Denmark, it guides vessels turning into the Baltic Sea. The lighthouse replaced Lightship 28 Falsterborev, which had served as Sweden's final active lightship station.

Why it matters: The replacement of Sweden's last active lightship station marked a significant modernization of navigational aids in the region. It precisely marks the critical turn from the Öresund into the Baltic Sea.
