The current structure, built in 1964, has a focal height of 88 meters and emits a white flash every 5 seconds, visible for 23.6 nautical miles. The lighthouse station was first established in 1898 with a wooden tower. This original structure was moved in 1903, but was destroyed by a storm in 1948. A concrete tower was erected in 1949 before the present skeletal tower was constructed. The site is open to the public, though the tower is closed.
