About Davieaux Island Lighthouse
The Davieaux Island Lighthouse was built in 1911 on the summit of a small island that is part of a reef system. This reef shelters Québec Harbour on the south side of Michipicoten Island. The octagonal concrete tower stands 13 meters tall and is painted white with red trim, while the lantern housing is red. Its light flashes white every 20 seconds and has a geographic range of 16.9 nautical miles. The operational lighthouse is managed by the Canadian Coast Guard and the site is open to the public, although the tower itself is closed.
