About Corpus Christi Lighthouse
The Corpus Christi Lighthouse was established near the modern intersection of North Upper Broadway and Buffalo Street in downtown Corpus Christi. Operational from 1859 until 1878, this lighthouse served vessels approaching the city's harbor. Little remains of the original structure, which was active for just under two decades. Its light guided mariners navigating the bay's channels during a formative period for the coastal settlement. The lighthouse marked the city's early endeavors to improve maritime safety for its port.
