Constanţa Main Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Constanţa Main Lighthouse
Constanța Main, a triangular concrete tower, was first lit in 1960. This structure replaced an earlier station established in 1886 to support the port's growing importance. The tower is white with a very dark blue upper section and lantern on the seaward side. Standing 58 meters tall, its focal height reaches 87 meters, providing a geographic range of 23.4 nautical miles. The light emits two white flashes every 29.8 seconds. While the site is open to the public, the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels into and out of Constanța, a major Black Sea port. Its modern, distinctive triangular design also makes it a notable landmark within the city.
