About Cedar Point Lighthouse
The Cedar Point Light marked the southern entrance to the Patuxent River in Maryland. It was constructed as the final house-type lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay. The structure was an early casualty of coastal erosion. Its cupola and gables have been salvaged and are now held in museum collections.
Background
The Cedar Point Light was the last house-type lighthouse built in the Chesapeake Bay. An early victim of shoreline erosion, the cupola and gables are preserved at museums.
