About Breivik Lighthouse
Also known as: Breivik (Panseren) (?)
Established in 1906, Breivik Lighthouse guided vessels to the harbor of Breivik, situated on a small skerry off Sørøya's west coast. The structure consists of a 6-meter lantern and gallery supported by four black straightpiles, with the lantern itself painted white and topped with a red roof. Accessible only by boat, its light served local fishing boats and other maritime traffic. The lighthouse ceased operations in 2023. Its nearest port is Sorvar, 3.3 kilometers away.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was specifically positioned to guide vessels safely into the harbor of Breivik, a critical function for local fishing boats and other maritime traffic navigating the often-challenging waters off Sørøya's west coast.
