About Bragen Lighthouse
Established in 1984, Bragen lighthouse is a concrete post topped by a cylindrical fiberglass tower. It stands 16 meters tall with a focal height of 17 meters. The lighthouse displays an occulting white, red, and green light with a 6-second cycle. Its white tower features horizontal black and white bands on the fiberglass extension and a red roof. Bragen is situated on a small island about 800 meters northwest of the historic Tungenes lighthouse. The station was extended around 2023.
Why it matters: Bragen lighthouse directly assumed the navigational responsibilities of the older Tungenes lighthouse, ensuring continued maritime safety in its area of operation. Its placement on a small island clearly marks specific hazards and shipping lanes along this section of the Norwegian coast.
