Bolsøygalten Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Bolsøygalten Lighthouse
This Norwegian lighthouse is situated on a stone cairn atop a skerry at the entrance to the Sagfjord, east of Engeløya. The structure itself is 6 meters tall and consists of a lantern and gallery. Its light displays a single flash every five seconds, appearing white, red, or green depending on the viewing angle. Operating on a 5-second cycle, the light provides directional guidance to mariners. Although the site is accessible to the public, the tower remains closed. The nearest port is Tranoy, located 14.9 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for safe navigation into the Sagfjord, warning vessels of the skerry and other submerged dangers at the entrance to this complex waterway.
