Belliveau Cove Lighthouse

Oc White 5s🇨🇦Belliveaus Cove, CAOperational

A square pyramidal wood tower, the Belliveau Cove lighthouse stands 6.5 meters tall with a focal height of 6 meters. Painted white with red trim, its lantern is also red. The structure replaced an earlier lighthouse destroyed by a storm in 1973. Local residents rebuilt and activated this replica in the 1980s, maintaining it as a private aid. It emits a single white flash every 5 seconds, visible for 8.9 nautical miles. Although removed from the official Canadian Coast Guard list in May 2024, it may continue to operate under local maintenance.

Why it matters: This lighthouse represents community resilience, having been rebuilt by residents after the original was lost to a storm, and continues to serve local maritime traffic.
