About Bécancour Range Front Lighthouse
This concrete pier structure, built in 1904, stands 6.5 meters tall with its light positioned at 7 meters. The square pyramidal base is painted red and supports an enclosed lantern with a red roof. Originally featuring a hexagonal lantern, it was later replaced with the current design. The light emits a continuous green signal, visible for 9.3 nautical miles when aligned on the range line. It is located on the west side of the Rivière Bécancour's mouth, about 8 kilometers southwest of the port of Bécancour.
Why it matters: This upstream range light guides vessels precisely along the Rivière Bécancour's channel, ensuring safe navigation to and from the port of Bécancour.
