Location & Light Range
About Anacapa Island Lighthouse
Constructed in 1912, this lighthouse stands 14 meters tall with its focal plane at 84 meters above sea level. Its white tower emits a single white flash, visible for 14 nautical miles. The light station is positioned at the entrance to the Santa Barbara Channel in Central and Southern California. Automation has since replaced its manned operation, with the National Park Service now responsible for the surrounding area. The island itself has gained recognition for an environmental restoration project that successfully eradicated invasive rats.
