VLCC Acheloos struck near Omani coast as IRGC targets Hormuz shipping

Gulf of Oman, July 20. One projectile struck the Acheloos at around 2010 UTC, about 8 nautical miles northeast of Limah on the Omani coast.

The ship is a Liberia-flagged VLCC managed by Dynacom, with a cargo capacity of around 2 million barrels. The projectile hit the steering gear compartment. No fire broke out. Dynacom said all crew members were safe and accounted for, and the ship proceeded to anchorage for assessment.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the strike. The IRGC also claimed a simultaneous attack on a second Dynacom-managed ship, the Kavomaleas, which caught fire and was evacuated in nearby waters.
