USS Abraham Lincoln left Laem Chabang, Thailand on 6 September, headed home after a port call that gave its crew time ashore for the first time in months. The ship had arrived on 2 September with rust streaking the hull and paint worn through in spots, after a record 286-day deployment to the Middle East. Shore crews worked through the stop, scrubbing and touching up the hull. By departure, the ship looked clean.
Sailors spent their days ashore in Pattaya, the Thai beach city close to the port, at local restaurants, markets and bars. Then they went back aboard and the ship got underway.
Lincoln is now bound for home.
