A tanker was hit by an unknown projectile near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz on August 25. Fire broke out. The crew put it out. Everyone on board was accounted for, and no environmental damage was reported.
UK Maritime Trade Operations issued Warning 121-26 on August 27. The notice placed the incident northwest of the Musandam Peninsula and advised ships to transit with caution. No official attribution was released, and neither the tanker's identity nor the projectile type were publicly confirmed.
The week before, Iran's IRGC detained the UAE tanker AMARA near Qeshm Island for bypassing the mandated northern corridor. And on August 18, a ship exiting the strait took a projectile hit that damaged its engine room and left one crew member as a casualty.
